About Barbara Bailey
Representative Bailey holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the State University of New York. She is a nationally recognized Certified Marketing Executive and Certified Hotel Administrator. She currently runs her own management consulting and training firm, and is a member of both the National Speakers Association and the Northwest Speakers Association. A longtime professional in the hotel and hospitality industry, Barbara has held the position of hotel general manager and worked in leadership positions for the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association on regional, national, and international levels.
Prior to her first term as Representative from the 10th Legislative District, Rep. Bailey served as a member on the Oak Harbor Comprehensive Planning Task Force and the Island County Joint Committee on Tourism.
Barbara lives in Oak Harbor with her husband, Butch Bailey, who teaches NJROTC in the Burlington-Edison School System. Both are proud parents of their four children. Rep. Bailey’s eldest son is a former naval aviator and is now an aeronautical engineer; another son is a former JAG officer in the Army who is now an assistant U.S. Attorney. Barbara has twin daughters — one owns and operates a private pre-school, and the other is a respiratory therapist and trauma nurse. Barbara and her husband have nine grandchildren.
